DataReSource has reprocessed the 6,800km 1972 Gulfrex seismic survey.

The survey that covers the Coral, Solomon and Bismarck Sea’s as well as skirting the perimeter of New Britain has been in the pipeline for over 18 months and is now available in what is becoming one of the hottest areas in the Asia Pacific. DataReSource, together with Samit Spectrum (www.samit.in), completed the reprocessing of the vintage 1972 survey, which includes PSTM final products in an area in which previously there was little to no data available.

The two part project included the first phase of recovering the vintage data from 40 year old legacy tapes with the conversion to SEGY in readiness for processing. To complete the first phase, a major project to try and locate and assemble the support material including observer logs, acquisition report and navigation (to ensure the project had all of the necessary components to be processed), was also undertaken.

Phase 2, undertaken by Samit Spectrum was the reprocessing of the data producing PSTM final stacks as well as several intermediate products. The final products have vastly improved the data quality when compared to what was available previously.
